Blood on a plate and it’s not mine!

Published by mamanet16 at 9:28 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Ok so Saturday night My family and I go to eat at a Mexican restaurant. Which we do frequently as we are 1/2 of the family Hispanic.  And we order our food I go up to get some soda and I come back and the hubby is checking our food and around the table. I ask what’s up? He says nothing. Ok I eat because I’m hungry and it looks wonderful. Steak burrito gigantic and smells good. My daughter (2 1/2 yr old) had a steak taco and the hubby had a burrito also). So we finish up and my husband pick up my daughters lil plate to find a bllody finger print on the bottom.  We both were so sick immediately at the thought of this.  Everything runs through your mid, HIV, Hepatitis Virus’ etc etc etc. And of course it’s Saturday night our doctor isn’t in and her answering machine says to contact the ER. Ok I call them and ask should I do something, They tell me they cannot give advice over the phone! Great. Well my husband talked to the restaurant and they gave us our dinner free. Ok yeah great, is the blood pathogens that we may or may not have ingested free also or will we pay for them the rest of our lives?  aAt the time I was a little more calm thinking ok probably nothing got on our food or our daughters.  But after calling the health dept yesterday and them advising me to contact my doctors immediately I got alittle freaked. ok alot. I call my doctor and my husband and they want to do a whole blood work up, HIV, Hepatitis and a couple other panels.  So then I called my daughter’s pediatrician and they called me back late in the day, “oh don’t worry about it. It’s probably nothing. She doesn’t need blood work”. Ok the blood was on her plate and her doc isn’t worried about it.  But my hubby’s and mine doctor’s are very concerned about it. What the heck?!?!? So needless to say we are gong back to the old pediatrician that we had even though he is 30 minutes away, this one is like 5 minutes away.  UGH!  I know if you are reading htis and thinking it’s probably nothing and I hope like hell you are right. But think about it eating one meal and possibly becoming infected with a horrible virus.  It’s that easy. I checked with the CDC and the chance of becoming infected was 1 in 97.9 percent. Ok not bad. But I got pregnant with both my children while taking the pill and that is 1 in 99%.  I get worried about percentages and odds. Just one more day in my life.
