Watching your child screw up

Published by mamanet16 at 8:01 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Watching your child make mistake after mistake is the hardest thing. I know they have to make mistakes to learn from them but how about just taking advice once from your mom. She has seen a thing or two and made a few mistakes along the way.  But I suppose we never listen to our parents until we are like 30 something and wish we had listened.  I guess I will have to wait at least another 10 years before you realize I do know a thing or two. My 19 year old (almost 20) has the listening skills of my two 1/2 year old.  that or he has become an expert at ignoring me.  His freshman year of high school I told him repeatedly to go to school, don’t fight, do your homework, and other unreasonable demands. And what happened, he got expelled.  Then whined about getting his GED at 16 and being unable to attend his high school graduation.  I advised him to wear condoms and what happens I’m going to be a grandma in december. And now he whines because he has to go to work everyday and not lose this job like the countless others. My advice now, grow up.  He has told me for 4 years he is “grown”. Well now he is. Now he complains I don’t care.  Well I do care but if you don’t listen to the advice aand then “it” happens well tough luck pal.  That’s life and part of being “grown”.  Still l love ya though.
